I was THAT girl who thought Yoga was a worthless practice. ↙️
“Why not just lift heavy and do cardio? That will get me the body I desire.”
… Well, those thoughts are the ones that got me in trouble.
For many who work ( or worked previously) at “office” jobs, you know the impact that they have on our bodies. My experience may or may not have been on the more extreme side, which included gaining 25 lbs over the course of 2 years, unhealthy eating/drinking habits, and ending up in physical therapy for the loss of curvature in my neck. There is more to life than sitting in a cubical all day trying to make ends meet financially, spiritually, and emotionally. You know that you can improve the quality of your life by changing your habits, right?
Yoga is a newfound habit of mine. It has shaped me into a bigger and more badass version of myself that I didn’t even know existed. I’ve stumbled upon 3 things while learning and growing into a regular yogi:
- Relaxation – In our fast-paced world, sometimes we just need to take a step back and relax. Listening to the sound of my breath is one of the most powerful things and has brought my stress levels down to a minimum.☀️ … Take a moment to deeply inhale through your nose and exhale out your mouth. How does it feel?
- Self-Love – I know many of us, especially women, can easily point out the self-created flaws we believe to have, whether it be in a mirror or to a friend. But, what about the countless blessings that actually exist being bypassed in the process? 👉 Perception is EVERYTHING.
- Weight Loss – Up until starting a regular yoga practice, the only way I thought I was going to lose weight was by lifting weights and cardio. I was trained to believe this mentality from the 6 years of Track and Field I fell in love with, but something had to change. By focusing mainly on yoga, since March of this year… I’m down 20 lbs and feeling amazing!! 😍
You are stronger than you think, my friend.
